줄거리
하루 아침에 나는 명예도 잃고, 가족도 잃었다.
부당한 권력의 횡포에 당당히 맞선 한 남자의 외로운 투쟁
말 중개상을 하는 미하엘 콜하스(매즈 미캘슨)는 다른 지방으로 넘어가려는 다리에서 새 남작이 강압적으로 통행료를 받고 있음을 알게 된다. 이에 반발하자 그에게 돌아온 건 여윈 말과 폭행 당한 하인, 그리고 소송장을 내러 갔다가 싸늘한 시체로 돌아온 아내였다. 급기야 딸의 목숨까지 위협해오는 공권력에 분노한 미하엘은 남작에 대한 복수를 계획하는데…
